I predict that Musk will not stay in Trump's favour for much longer. They are both narcissists and they will eventually clash.

Musk is unhappy about tariffs. Tesla has become a hated brand. The left and the energy-transition people hate Musk now. Even the previously hagiographic EV publications hate Tesla now. I think Musk miscalculated and made huge mistake.

I agree that putting two malignant narcissists in a room is a formula for an eventual blowup. Right now, though, the alliance is holding despite Musk's attack on Navarro. I think Tesla's share price is, at this point, propped up as much by the idea that Trump has Musk's back as it is by the idiotic promises of FSD, Optimus, and robotaxis.

US will recover and prosper given time. Given the complete removal of any and all guardrails, Musk will explode in the most spectacular way we can possibly imagine. I assume, well before Trump does

I hope you’re right. In another, earlier era, it would be easy to agree with you. In this truly dangerous world in which we live, I am less sanguine.

I am not sanguine. We are in for a major shakeup and our democracy is resilient enough to withstand it. I am confident of that.

To the victor go the spoils - it is the way of the world. Obama, Biden, and every President before them rewarded those who donated to them. It is glaringly disingenuous to criticize Trump for doing the same..... As for Boeing, perhaps if they could build Rockets that didn't strand astronauts in space, or planes where people aren't getting sucked out windows - they might still have the Federal contract. Your hatred of Elon is so blinding it has you advocating for continuing to shovel federal dollars to the company that got their astronauts stuck in space, rather than the company that had to rescue them. I, for one, would much prefer that federal tax dollars go to those who know what they are doing. While I, like you, have an intense dislike for Elon the person, you can not argue with his accomplishments. When some other company comes along that can land 40-story rockets upright, or rescue stranded astronauts on demand, i might be inclined to put them in charge of NASA. Until that day, Elon - as much as I hate him - should be in charge of NASA.
