Life after Twitter
One does weary of providing free content for the benefit of You Know Who....
It’s time for an old dog to learn new tricks. As many who may come here will know, I have written about Tesla for several years, both in long form at Seeking Alpha and in a more punchy fashion at Twitter, under the pseudonym of Montana Skeptic.
While I may from time to time put up a piece at Seeking Alpha, I am finished with Twitter. It’s not just Elon. It’s the time suck, too.
Here, I hope to write some posts about Tesla, but also to share my thoughts (and invite yours) on energy policy, classical music, legal issues, politics, books I’m reading, and who knows what else.
If you’re a Tesla fan or an admirer of Musk, this may not be the place for you. If, however, you (like me) believe Musk and Tesla have been at the forefront of promoting environmental & energy policies that are immensely costly and (far worse) terribly wrongheaded, then you may find something of interest here.
As for politics, I used to think of myself as a conservative, but that term means almost nothing any longer. I loathe Donald Trump. I don’t recognize the Republican Party, which I joined in the days of Ronald Reagan. My motto is “mind your own business” and I heartily wish both parties would desist from telling us what we can read, what we can drive, and - indeed - what we can say and even what we can think.
I read a lot and listen to a lot of classical music. I may be tempted to share some thoughts about books and music recordings.
I should say a word about Ukraine. I very much wish the United States would do much more, and much more quickly, to aid the cause of the Ukrainian military. Yes, I appreciate how misguided were our interventions in Iraq and Afghanistan, but I view Ukraine as quite different. The Ukrainians are a proud people fighting to be free from a nation of brutes led by a war criminal. They are shedding their own blood and paying a terrible price. Vigorously supporting Ukraine is a bargain basement way of weakening an aggressive and evil Russia, while also sending a useful message to China. I hope to see someday a free and peaceful Ukrainian nation (including Crimea).
I’ll try to write something at least weekly. And, as time goes on, I’ll share links to writers, analyses, posts, etc. that I find of interest.
As a final note, the “Subscribe now” will ask you to pledge financial support. Please feel free to ignore the nudge. If at some point you determine that you like what you’re reading, then perhaps $1 per year would be a lovely way to signal your approval.
grazie e benvenuto
Glad to see you here. I need a dimwit-free reading zone.
