I had to chuckle at this sentence from your piece:

"For now, Tesla remains better understood as a religion than a financial investment, and we can now add SpaceX to that category."

I wholeheartedly agree, and have proof from just over 24 hours ago. In the comment section of a WSJ article, I saw someone extolling the virtues of Musk and his various companies. I sarcastically asked him why he failed to mention profitability. He proceeded with the inexplicable response that SpaceX was profitable. I countered that was categorically false. He came right back with the following:

"There are no verified numbers. Regardless, why do you care? There is $$billions of smart money anxious to buy SpaceX shares.....SpaceX saves US taxpayers $$Billions. NASA’s own estimate: $20–30 billion saved. We are fortunate to have SpaceX/Elon Musk."

I rest my case.

P.S. I concur with your thoughts as to shorting. Not worth it IMO.

I think the Nasdaq changed their proposal since Keubiko wrote in March. Instead of multiplying the float by 5 to calculate SPCX weighting, they settled on multiplying it by 3.
